Pressuriazation

Hi all, I have built a double-acting pressurized gamma engine, with the intent to produce up to approx 1 hp. To date the most I have attained is about .2 hp at about 800 deg. F on the hot end and with water jacket on the cool side. The engine runs at 200-250 RPM no load at atmoshperic pressure. As I...

Displacer cylinder length help

Hi all, In determining the length of displacer and displacer cylinder in a high temp gamma engine, I have often seen that the hot end should be 2/3 the length of the cylinder and the cooling area 1/3 the length of cylinder. Also that the displacer length should be 2 times the diameter. This seems so...

displacer design advice

What is your opinion of a displacer for a gamma engine constructed from aluminum discs .042" thick x 3" dia with spacer washers of about .010" thickness between each. The discs would have some holes in them for air flow. These would be assembled on a rod connected to the displacer linkage. Thanks in...

Regenerative displacer-copper

Hi all, I am working on a hi temp Gamma stirling engine. Would it make sense to make the displacer from copper pipe with copper end caps to achieve the regenerative effect? I would probably knurl the surface or wrap a few layers of copper screen for greater surface area. What are your thoughts? Than...
