Re: Tesla's "Ambient Heat Engine" Experiment

An Air-cycle refrigeration system works by: 1) compressing air 2) releasing the compressed air through a turbine or reciprocating piston engine to extract work from the air. A Stirling engine appears to do the same thing, or carry out the same process. Air is compressed in the cylinder. The air then...

Re: Tesla's "Ambient Heat Engine" Experiment

... .. If Tesla was right , the ice in the pan on the left with the running engine on top should melt more SLOWLY than the pan on the right with a non-operational engine since the running engine is converting some portion of the heat trying to reach the ice into another form of energy. ... The only...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

My my, there are even 0.85 volt peltier modules. How low can you go? They can also be "stacked" for greater ∆T and better heat separation. Also running them briefly gives better efficiency as each module can only create a certain ∆T, once reached they quit working, still consume power, but...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Just BTW, I sent for some of these little 6 volt 2 amp copper Peltier chips. Faster response time, better cooling. Compress_20240518_223413_3506.jpg https://youtu.be/zGS3HX8wIdg 12 volt even 9 volt charging for a little model LTD Stirling is a pretty tall order. 5 volts will be a challenge. Oooo... ...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

According to Tesla's theory... If we first ran the Peltier module to cool the bottom plate. (Keeping it insulated of course, to preserve the cold). The engine could then run on the surrounding ambient heat, and with perfect insulation and a 100% efficient engine, it could run indefinitely. He recog...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

... BTW Tom, here's a tidbit I'll blow your way...I was born in Rochester, NY and lived on the Erie canal as a kid. So, let's just say that I'm more than familiar with the cocky know-it-all mindset that plagues the region. Well that explains a lot. I guess you should if you grew up there. I didn't.

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

caught it prior edit...Your a bigger blowhard than "fool". AC units are fairly cheap these days, except for electricity. When I lived in Phoenix (early 1960s), the population was small and most people had swamp coolers and they worked great. However, as the population exploded, all the la...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Let me ask you fool. Do you doubt that evaporative cooling (using water) can reduce the temperature of the air? i.e. "swamp cooler". Why, OMG, how is that possible! Water boils at 212°F !!!!! You couldn't possibly use evaporating water to cool below 100°C !!!! Evaporative cooling with wat...

I don't think anyone needs "faith" to build an air-cycle refrigerator.

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Oh, BTW, while we are on the subject of the "orifice" in a refrigeration system... There are of course several types. A refrigeration or heat pump system consists of two basic components. 1) a compressor or pump of some sort. 2) a tube or pipe connecting the pump outlet with the pump inlet...

Occasionally I do a search for the availability of any kind of small turbine, in particular Tesla turbine. There is this 3" diameter one finally appearing through several sellers on eBay, just in case anyone else is interested. Compress_20240518_065908_8453.jpg I'm not providing a link to any p...

Re: Kontax KS90v thermal experiments

I was thinking of trying this, but looks like somebody beat me to it 3 years ago https://youtu.be/vsTIWhZ-6HM The top engine, (hot side of the Peltier), is, well, just watch the video. The Peltier device may not be that efficient at cooling, but it looks like it's putting out a lot of heat! I have y...
