Re: Kontax KS90v thermal experiments

I was thinking of trying this, but looks like somebody beat me to it 3 years ago https://youtu.be/vsTIWhZ-6HM The top engine, (hot side of the Peltier), is, well, just watch the video. The Peltier device may not be that efficient at cooling, but it looks like it's putting out a lot of heat! I have y...

Re: Kontax KS90v thermal experiments

This is kind of interesting I think. I took the guts out of that six pack cooler. It didn't really amount to much. I wondered if the thing could run on 12 volts, maybe it could run on just 9 volts. So I found a place where I could attach a 9 volt battery on the back of the 12 volt power plug. Well, ...

Re: Kontax KS90v thermal experiments

With the long tube to power piston I'd bet it would have a better chance at running from heat of hand if the top side was the hot side. Seems like a good choice for cold bottom and ambient top side. I think the first thing I'd like to try is running one on ice and the other on heat. I'm interested ...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Maybe something could be done with one of these little tire inflator compressors. They actually contain a little thimble size, mechanically driven air compressor I'm pretty sure could be driven by a small LTD Stirling. Not to 300 psi obviously but it could move some air. Re: Does a medium sized SE exist that could charge 12 V car battery properly?

...Just hope this is not another one of those SE's building up to be a small bomb by self pressurization. Another one? There seems to be only one alleged or rumored anecdotal case of some such explosion, supposedly at the Phillips lab. Apparently not reported by the lab itself. about which practica...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Again, you don't know what your talking about I'm not going to waste any more time trying to educate someone who first can't recognize a simple "orifice" watches half a dozen videos, still claims "no orifice". When proven wrong doubles and triples down, making additional claims a...

... @Tom - Yeah that is unfortunately how I feel about the SE industry in general, a lot of claims; not a lot of long term verified performances . .... It seems there was. With Stirling Technology Company, Infinia, NASA etc. up until around 2010. Then something put the kibosh on things (for the dom...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Let me ask you fool. Do you doubt that evaporative cooling (using water) can reduce the temperature of the air? i.e. "swamp cooler". Why, OMG, how is that possible! Water boils at 212°F !!!!! You couldn't possibly use evaporating water to cool below 100°C !!!! Evaporative cooling with wate...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

... I just have one more question, how does ipoo get -32 degrees C out of a chemical that boils at 10 degrees F, in a system that is running at atmospheric pressure? ... Funny how you believe the video can be easily faked by letting butane evaporate on the outside of the pipe, but can't believe the...

Re: Kontax KS90v thermal experiments

Runs on ice quite nicely also. A lot quieter.

When I lifted the engine out of the bowl some of the wet ice cubes adhered to the bottom. Pretty obviously not due to "refreezing". So there goes that theory.

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Another point worth mentioning, a capillary tube type fixed orifice allows the system to equalize when the compressor is off. Having the system pressure equalized at startup in such a tiny low pressure system means zero high pressure at start up, so a low torque pump/compressor is all that is needed...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Here is a real DIY refrigerator. It has an explanation for temperature drop verses orifice. Ten feet of 1 mm tube for a larger pump. Those little butane ones need a much much smaller hole or longer capillary , and even then unlikely to get claimed temperature drop at all. https://m.youtube.com/watc...

Re: Tesla's Ambient Heat Engine revisted

Tom, if they were more efficient than a Joule Thompson refrigerator, wouldn't they all use them? Solid state, freon less, noiseless. No they are less efficient. https://www.rigidhvac.com/blog/compressor-based-cooler-vs-thermoelectric-cooling-peltier https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoelectric_co...
