Re: Soldering

i ones made displacer piston and the whole cylinder from brass sheet metal. soldered it together. it can be done and it's quite easy way to make any shape and size. the problem is the solders melt when I heated the engine. so the part that gets the frame cannot be soldered. Cold end parts can be sol...

Re: pot pot boat

actually you could probably modify similar design to be a stirling engine too. if would need to have the cold end, maybe longer tube style pressure chamber and steel wool inside the end cold end. heat it from the middle were the wool ends. and that water would act as a piston. water would move the a...

Re: pot pot boat

I think it works like this. there needs to be small amount of water in the chamber(even just a drop). when it boils it pushes the column of water in the pipe away from the chamber, but the mass of the column causes it to go too far, this causes vacuum to the chamber and the column of water starts to...

hi

is the 'pot pot boat' engine basicly a stirling engine, (thermoacoustic engine?) it basicly has just a chamber and a tube(or multible tubes), I think the water column in the tube acts as a piston.

can Lamina flow engine work as a big engine

hi question 1: I've been watching lamina flow stirling vids from youtube, but I haven't seen any big engine for this style? can they work? I was thinking that if you have like 1m long tube and 10cm piston, with over 10cm stroke, can it work.? I was just thinking that if bigger size lamina flow engin...

Re: My first LTD stirling - should I decrease the piston thr

nice build and I think it runs very nicely.

try how fast it turns with ice on the cold side and submerge the bottom to hot water.

found this great article/testing stydy of similar engine. they got it running, but power was quite low.

great testing data anyway about working pressure efects and design points.

Re: V-twin compressor pump...

looks impressive, so you have displacers in both cylinders? I think this method to attach the hose is better than that german industrial stirling(picture couple of pages back). as here the tube is connected below the dispacer, so any air travelling has to go past the displacer. in cold cylinder this...

Re: planning fro large solar gamma stirling engine

I think the same principles go for stirling that work for gasoline engines. If you want power, you just cannot increase the single cylinder size as it cannot rev high enough and the single cylinder causes vibration as the piston is so big. with stirling design it's even more important to keep the si...

Re: V-twin compressor pump...

hi, I'm new here, but i have been following stirling engine designs. so little comment on this V kompressor idea. First of all when I first saw it, i thought this is just how it should be done. it looks so engine like. but after some thinking my thoughs are that if it would run, the output would be ...
