displacer gland
what I used that worked well was a needle from a deep fry turkey injection baster. I bought a container of turkey marinade and it came with a pretty much disposable suringe. I cut the needle part off and deburred it. Then I jb welded it into another piece of metal that was easier to mount to the top...

problem with power piston
I have a slightly larger version of the tin can engine. When I move the displacer up and down after heating it, the power piston only sucks in. What would cause it to not also push out. Every thing is working freely.

4 cylinder tin can engine
I have been thinking about making a four cylinder tin can engine , just for kicks. I have decided that the flywheel will have to be a bit heavier. What I am wondering is should I make two sets of pistons 180 gegrees from each other or 4 sets that are 90 degrees apart.

coffe can stirling
The coffee can that I want to make my displacer cylinder out of is a 3 lbd. coffee can. The diameter is 6 inches and the height is 7 inches. I have read that my displacer piston should be 1/3 the height of the displacer cylinder, but how do I figure the clearance for the diameter of the piston? Also...

Another use for epoxy
On my tin can engine I found that I was loosing way to much air at the top of the displacer can, Wich made it difficult to keep running. I tmixxed up some 4 minute epoxy and put it around were the coat hanger came out of the displacer. Just before it was completly set up I moved the displacer piston...

Diffuser question
Would a diffuser in a tin can strirling engine be of any value? If so could a wad of steel wool in front of the power piston be used? Some were around here I have a hunk of copper wool. If the purpose of the diffuser is to help disapate heat, wouldn't the copper wool be better?

Can my displacer be a thin piece of metal , or does it need to be thick like all the other ones I have seen?

scaling it up
I have successfully built a tin can engine. Verry cool. I was thingking of scaling it up to coffee can size. Are there things I should concider if I want power or speed, other than of course heat source?
Thanks

DISPASER QUESTION
i am trying to build a tin can sterling engin. I have the preasure vessil and displacer built according to the plans. The displacer can travel high enough to go past the hole going to the power piston. Is that a problem or do i just make the crank shaft in such a way that it limits the throw of the ...
