Re: My Next Stirling Model
Its been a while, lots happened here last few weeks. I have been diagnosed with diabetes, wife was in hospital, and I had been saving up for a welding machine. Ive gotten a little flux core MIG machine and now messing around with a more solid crankshaft design.

Re: My Next Stirling Model
Slow progress being made. The Displacer Cylinder is Stainless and all components of the displacer are SS as well. Airpot power piston with essentially no dead air space connected right to the top of the D cylinder. My first crank is promising but epoxy or JB Weld is inferior. I took parts to a shop ...

Re: Low Cost Stirling Engine Project
Quick look before I head off to work.... CONGRATULATIONS! I cant fathom the work you all had to do before making even a test run! I do know a taste the joy on a much smaller scale. Your long term endurance putting things together is amazing. It shows in everyone's the excitement. Looking forward to ...

Re: Those Crazy Russians!!
wouldn't it be more efficient if.... Hahaha OK ...not to make fun of the engine, however I cant resist a little poke here. As a Painting Contractor Ive done this thousands of times. Finish it off fluffed out, and its ready to go again immediately or hang to dry and the roller cover will last almost...

Re: power for using an alternator for battery charging?
Though maybe not quite matching the theme of this thread and/or slightly off topic, Id like to comment on Full's post..... ... a lot better than using an electric motor for an alternator. I am on board with that too Full. Ive been thinking of running a lamina flow engine from the heat coming off the...

Re: My Next Stirling Model
[tab=20]Im just not comfortable with the size of this displacer cylinder and displacer . It just seems it will be too heavy, especially since Im adding weight by using SS materials in the displacer. I just "feel" like a diaphragm of 2" diameter is not enough. I think increasing the di...

Whahoo! "moving sculptures". Cool idea. The stirling would be a good engine for that it seems. How heavy and big would the sculptures be?

Re: "Hi" We are new here!
Welcome. Dont give up, I built 4 or 5 before I got one to run. Model Stirlings are very finicky . Mybe some pictures might clue us into to how and help. Stick with a proven design is the best suggestion I got. Then experiment on it and improve on the next model. Friction and leaks seem to be common ...

Re: Request Advice - Gamma Stirling
Not enough personal experiments from me but I have a note where a builder that does well with his model stirlings stated he used a "loosely filled displacer". How loose is loose I wonder, LOL. One needs pictures at the least so Im not much help here. You may look at the thread: http://stir...
