Re: Engine pressurisation question

Aha! Thanks, makes a lot of sense now.
So the only thing going from the pressurized vessel into atmospheric pressure is the wires?

Re: Engine pressurisation question

How long till the increased pressure leaks out. These engines with shafts and conn rods are not air tight.

Re: Members Top Picks

I'm no expert. But I love derwoods large thermal lag/pulse engine.

Re: large lamina flow build

I vote this engine derwood designed is the best hot air engine I've ever seen. It's so impressive. I wish he would prony brake it to test the power. I want one.

Assisted LTD stirling idea ? ?

Idea
One LTD gamma running from solar drives the flywheel of a second LTD gamma stirling which acts in reverse as a heat pump to further cool one of the first engines surfaces, thus assisting the temperature differential of the first engine?
Work?

Solar pond Stirling

Here's my idea. I have a pond that's 13 feet deep. In the summer the surface of the pond gets warm, whereas the bottom is ice cold. Could I use this temperature differential to run an LTD stirling or Alpha Stirling? Remember the cold side is 13 feet down , at the bottom of the pond.

Re: Beta or Gamma displacer

Ian SC Thanks for setting me straight. So following your explaination would it be better to just have the regenerative steel wool on just the hot end of the displacer instead of the whole length? And if using a hollow steel displacer, would a pin hole be advised to equalize the pressure inside the d...

Beta or Gamma displacer

Since the steel wool displacer isbsupposed to do two jobs 1. Displace. 2. Store and release heat.
Has anyone tried aluminum wool instead of Ssteel or steel wool?

Manson engine

Just so I don't waste time , those of you with Manson engine experience, is hot side ventilation better or cold side?

Re: large lamina flow build

By the way your video's say it's thermal lag, here you say it's lamina flow. ? ?

I think the "roll sock" type of diaphram is good.

Re: Diaphram life?

I was thinking if you had a diaphram fail on a stirling that pumped it's own cooling water, the engine would stop when the diaphram failed, which would stop the cooling water flow, but the heat source (fire) would be unstopped and the engine and components would overheat (burn up) . It would have to...

Diaphram life?

I've seen lots of engines running with diaphrams. Has anyone ever had one last a long time before tearing?

Does anyone think this would work so there wouldn't be such a long hose?
