length of cylinder and displacer

From what I see from Internet, there is not heat barrier between hot and cold ends. In the transition zone, it will lose thermal energy. I am thinking, use a long cylinder, long displacer, add a bypass pipe between hot end and cold end as gas pass. the displacer will not leakage gas. in between hot ...

so, millions , or tens of millons of US$ was spent,
still there is not a real commercial model on market.
All hobbists are nothing but reinventing perpetual motion machine.
sad.

Re: High powered Stirling going into production

So in western country. You have plenty of wood expensive on gas. Stirling on wood stove must have market. The other post of Swedish stirling, hot end is even 1000C. It is heated by gas efficiency is 20%. In wood stove, the temp. must be under 300C. (300+273)/(1000+273)X0.20=9% The wood stove top Sti...

Re: My 18cc Alpha Stirling Engine

So please go ahead and develop the engine you envision and then let us know what you came up with. I am not an expert on this aspect. I find a few graduate papers in chinese written in 2010-2014. There are schoolars on this aspect. But I do not find any commercial model ready in China. The experts ...

Re: High powered Stirling going into production

There must be a very good reason why striling engines are not massively produced. And everyone knows that stirling engine is good only for burning wood. Everybody has a wood in willage. So why the hell there are no stirling engines everywhere? Government regulation or some other reason? In your wes...

Re: My 18cc Alpha Stirling Engine

heating and generating together is a great idea for long period. But to store the 1Kw electricity, the cost of battery must be well over the value of electricity itsself. To sell electricity to the grid and get subsidery is another big joke make by politician. It must be developed when oil price was...

Re: High powered Stirling going into production

Considering price of oil, wood pellet is a big joke. and US$150-200 per barrel of oil was also a conspiracy, US$50 must be normal, So basically you can forget wood pellet. I am doing wood pellet burner for BBQ smoker, at 225F lasting 10+ hours. Wood pellet is for FLAVOUR, and automatically control o...

Re: Is it possible to make a 10 Watt Stirling engine to put on top a tent stove, under 4 lbs, no need to care efficiency

Considering efficiency Stirling can never beat inner combustion. Stirling must be good only for emergency or off grid or remote poor area. SO LPG is good only for a toy or demonstration. Stirling must relays on wood burning. Heat insulating foam rubber can withstand 280C. In China I can also easily ...

Re: My 18cc Alpha Stirling Engine

There are too many hobbists doing it. But MOST are nothing but a toy. Why NOT do it bore of 160mm or even 320mm instead of 32mm. It can be placed on top of a rocket stove. As long as the output can reach to 10 to 20 Watt, it is a great help to remote poor area. It is good for LED light 100 to 200 wa...

Re: generators

I take electric motors from old printers, VHS recorders, old tape recorders, these motors tend to be fairly low reving (probably 5000rpm. maybe less. I know that some times I have exceeded the rated revs when the voltage out goes to 18V (12v motor). With small motors/generators of any type I consid...

Re: Is it possible to make a 10 Watt Stirling engine to put on top a tent stove, under 4 lbs, no need to care efficiency

I find many Stirling engine stove fans on eBay. usually weight is 1 Kg or 2 lbs. It is acceptable. But I do not know its output. if 5Watt, it is acceptable. I wonder any possibility to upgrade these stove fan for bigger output. say big diameter of hot cylinder, heat insulator around the cylinder, co...

Re: Stirling engine for non-profit rural use.

yes dated back to 1970's China government was promoting biogas. Another booming happened a few years ago. Government even gave financial support to household in rural area to build biogas pit/tank. But I can say basically it is a big failure. More and more labor forces leave countryside to cities to...
