Re: Small Stirling Engine

I have the same Stirling engine and "generator" and I believe it easily lights the led. Perhaps the generator is faulty presuming your engine has good RPM.

Re: Whispergen mk4

Mk5 was quite popular in germany, you could get them on ebay.de for 150 ey for not working, 1000-1500 used, 3000++ for new. But they have cracking hot side heat exchangers. About mine - do not imagine too. On one motor lime scale popped up cold heat exchanger and water got inside. On other dont ima...

Re: some alpha engines have displacers

Blaf, some alphas have displacers and since you have not started building yet, I would encourage you to consider the possibility in your design. Usually, this has the result of moving the rings of the the hot piston a good distance from the heat. Directly heating the cylinder and piston is rather p...

Re: Converting Compressor to an Alpha Stirling Engine

I could only find one that was barely based off a Chrysler AC compressor. They had to rework so much, that they could have easily started from scratch.

Re: Converting Compressor to an Alpha Stirling Engine

Has anyone any where actually been successful in converting an air compressor to a Stirling engine??

Blechspielzeug engines

I noticed ministeam is selling this apparently larger model? Any thoughts about it?

Oh I see, the additional thermo mass outweighs the conduction from surface area?

thanks

Re: BTU of common fuels per pound

In researching this question, not all researchers come up with exactly the same figures. Please forgive any "errors" in the collected information. It is only meant as a general guide. BTU per pound of some common fuels Hydrogen 52,290 BTU per pound Acetylene 21,850 Propane 21,660 Gasoline 19,500 Ke...

Re: More volume on the hot side?

The hot side on my design is quite far away from the hot side, so heat creep shouldn't really be a problem. So if heat really is the only reason, my question is answered. The crown increases the surface area to conduct heat. In my opinion, it's a good idea to have a crown on both pistons. I'd made ...

I have a funded project on making a stirling engine 5 kw generator Have you anyone had done or experienced stirling engine that can generate 5 kw can give me some information about the size of the power piston? the diameter of the displacer? engine type: (alpha, beta, or gamma) ?? As much informati...

Re: Cant find old website

This engine Japan is pretty and a superb runner.
Generates meaningful power.
Less expensive than Boehm as well.

I think the engine had a limited production run as the manufacturing company seems out of business.

Re: Cant find old website

Quite the contrary. Boehm engines are junk imho. Make it run before you make something pretty.

Re: alpha engine question

Well with alpha, both pistons and cylinders can be identical on same crank pin 90 apart.
Displacer is misnomer here. Either hot or cold piston.
