Dead space imho might be useful in cases you need lower compression ratio. I'm not able to tell if your build is the case though :)

You have already contributed to the project by simply replying.
Glad to be of help :)

What a sad news about Inresol. I heard they had some financing issues, but was still hoping they will manage to get through.

Re: Stirling engine - recovered and recycled materials

I bought one of Alberto's engines and would like to hereby state they are really nice and run beautifully! 10/10

Im afraid there is no such engine on the market :/ But in case you find it, please let me know, i need one too :)

Maybe you could buy several of these to reach requested power? https://www.inresol.se/products/inresol-v2-6

Cool stuff.
Would be cool if you sell also some small simple model for hobbyists/off the grid folks on a budget :)

Re: Noob question - would these parts work?

Soo... i'm now in process of fitting pistons into cylinders, unfortunately the tube i got has some pretty rough dimensional tolerances. Or to be more specific, it's crooked as a bygeorge. Therefore i might need to get some better quality tubes before going on with the construction. However i at leas...

Re: Engine running for short period

I would guess either insufficient cooling as you mentioned or thermal expansion of pistons increases friction to a critical level.
What materials have you used for pistons and cylinders?

This video imho nicely demonstrates the effect of a snifter valve.

Re: Stirling power generator

Basic rule of thumb - less dead space means more power, therefore i suppose in upper picture the displacer isn't in top end.

Re: Stirling power generator

Well, imho in an engine complex like this, connecting it to an expansion tank (with additional dead volume) might be more feasible.

Re: Stirling power generator

For power regulation you may either put a valve on a channel between cylinders (limiting airflow causes engine to lose power, or better say - to waste power on pushing the air through), or you could add container with a lot of dead volume, again connected through valve to the rest of the system (add...
