Re: Philips Genset remade
Ive just read your first post showing details of the engine you have aquired and it would seem you are legit, and so i will be helping myself to a large portion of humble pie :). I'm curious to know (as I'm sure are others) what your plans are to reproduce this engine and what you mean by a "bi...

Re: Philips Genset remade
If you can deliver one to my front door at the right price and show me it working I would likely buy one along with many other people but frankly your post is very vague. From What I have read only 100 or so of these engines were ever made and as you will know many stirling collectors would like to ...

Re: My first post. Advice needed.
Joseph, I presume that the book you mention is "Modelling Stirling and Hot Air Engines" by James G. Rizzo. This book contains most of the information that is in "The Stirling Engine Manual" vol., 1. A good generator can be made from the DC motor from a tread mill, these range fr...

Re: How to scale up a LTD Stirling engine?
Wellington, thanks for the information. 60" diameter is really large and I need 4 of them to get ~1kW. If I want to build multiple 20" engines, how would the dimensions and power scale down? you can get 1 kw out of a small compact free piston type engine but as far as I know no company cu...

Re: How to scale up a LTD Stirling engine?
I'm a newbee like yourself to stirlings and this forum and so am not the best person to answer technical questions. From what I can tell most people designing for power go down the large alpha engine route like dieter viebachs engine from the 80s. Other projects of interest to look up are derwoodvw ...

Re: Engine pressurisation question
In theory the crankcase and the swept space should have equal pressure if the engine is pressurized or not. If theory is right, then rpm should be decided by the pressurization's influence on engine power. So it seems that rpm and pressurization is not directly related. Thanks Joseph. I understand ...

Re: Engine pressurisation question
Would I be right in saying that when you pressurize an engine you get more power but less rpm?

Re: Duel Fuel Stirling Steam Engine
Yer gotta give it a go, your not the first with the idea. Ian S C Well you say its not practical but for me my goal is to make an engine that is super flexible in fuel usage which can be called on in any situation to provide living basics like hot water, phone/tablet charging, drinking water, space...

Re: Does the stirling engine have a future in competing with IC engines?
what do you guys think about using the stirling engine in a hydrostatic/mechanical atv? I have no knowledge of ATVs, but I do know that many car manufacturers are doing R&D on the latest duel linear alternator stirling engines for hybrid and electric cars. Trends in the car industry are fast ch...

Re: New engines and ideas
Interesting engines on this post. Can someone bring me up to speed on which is the latest best performing engine of this type and a general idea on how to build one so I can begin experimenting myself. Thanks

Duel Fuel Stirling Steam Engine
This post may or may not cross the forum rules but here goes: It occurred to me that a single piston stirling engine and a single piston steam engine look very much the same in shape and form and I was wondering if it is possible to design an engine with dc generator which will run on steam and on h...

Re: The Pros and Cons of Stirling Engines
Ive studied almost every alternative technology available and each technology has its pros and cons. From the practical point of view I have ended up choosing stirling engines as my area of interest because they are so practical and flexible compared to other technologies. Feel free to correct the l...
