Re: Absurdly simple thermoacoustic-steam "rice" engine – What's going on here?
One thing I think is interesting is when he dumps out the rice, he comments on how hot it is. In this TNT video, about half way through the video he dumps out the aquarium gravel, after some minutes of dialogue and the gravel is still steaming hot. I'm pretty sure this one has not been posted here yet: https://youtu.be/g9JkmS18u1I?si=WdMqxZE43Y3Fb-Zl Amazing a plastic laundry bottle top works for this, and the plastic doesn't melt. Also, like the ceramic, non-heat, or very low heat conductivity above the boiler. Rice and plastic couldn't provi...

Re: Modified "Hot" Beta engine
Water evaporates at 100°C Water also condensed at 100°C This is easily disproven using a PV diagram. Water boils and condenses at 100 C, if and only if the pressure stays the same, and at approximately one atmosphere. This, on a PV diagram, would produce a cycle which contains zero area. ... Right,...

Re: Alpha stirling engine working principle
Can anyone tell me where or when Alpha type "Stirling" engines originated? They don't appear, afaik, to have originated with the Stirling brothers. Also, I don't think I've ever seen an actual "pure" V type Alpha that actually works, without modifying the original(?) concept and ...

2: Carnot Therom 0.98447 = (Th-Tl)/Th If: Th = 1000 K and Tc = 15 K n = (1000-15)/1000 = about 0.985 It would be difficult to find a workable gas at that low a temperature. Helium might be an only choice. Even it might not work. Or if 50 K for use of helium or hydrogen and 3333K: n = (3333-50)/3333...

Re: Modified "Hot" Beta engine
I would have to question the professor's motives... your quest to disprove 200 years of Thermodynamics, and you go on Bashing great men Presenting an alternative theory is not "bashing" anybody. Why these extreme reactions to silly experiments with toy engines? Why all the disparaging and...

Re: Modified "Hot" Beta engine
Another point. Before ever doing any experiments, I scoured the historic literature for any experimental proof of any kind whatsoever to verify the so-called "Carnot Limit". I could find NOTHING. Nothing whatsoever. I went on the various forums, Physics and Science forums for YEARS, asking...

Re: Modified "Hot" Beta engine
I think furthermore, I would probably have never carried out any such experiments at all except for having happened upon that 1900 article by Tesla where he presented his own analysis of Kelvin. Tesla theorized on the basis of the experimental evidence available at that time and concluded that heat ...

Re: Modified "Hot" Beta engine
A few thoughts. First of all, I mostly respect and honor Carnot. He published his ideas in good faith, (or likely, mostly his engineer father's ideas, according to some accounts), but when by numerous further experiments caloric theory did not fit the available data he recommended that the theory be...

Re: Making a stirling engine 5 kw generator
There was another installation of Infinia solar-Stirling Power Dish system at a Frito Lay plant that produces Sun Chips. The dishes were to be used to charge their electric delivery trucks: The dishes will power the plant’s electric delivery vehicles. Appropriately, those trucks will distribute SunC...

Re: Making a stirling engine 5 kw generator
The stated goal at that time, aside from deploying these as power generators for the US military in Afghanistan and Iraq, was also to make military bases in the states more secure by allowing them to generate their own power, independent of the grid. "This is a glimpse, just a glimpse of the fu...

Re: Making a stirling engine 5 kw generator
Once the military focused attention on these engines as a potential strategic "national security" asset that could be deployed in Afghanistan, Infinia, a company that seemed to be on top of the world with a bright future ahead for unlimited expansion quite abruptly went "bankrupt"...

Infinia did complete an installation at the Tooele Army base in Utah. https://vimeo.com/48084629 This is a Google Earth screenshot (taken on my phone just now) Resize_20240315_223216_6381.jpg It appears to still be in service, at least the area looks like it is being maintained. ... I did find a free piston Sterling 5KVA Generator if you have $50K USD (they did offer to sell me a refurbished one with no warranty for $30K, thanks but no thanks). ... Here is the the website for Qnergy, https://qnergy.com/tech/ and the YouTube video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH8RBcyFDe...
