This is a more reliable Stirling engine generator that I built. It has a graphite piston and a larger cooling tank, so it will run all day powering the radio. The displacer is steel wire wool. I haven't measure it properly yet, but I think that it's slightly more powerful than the first one I built....

This was my stirling generator 2 which imploded due to the vacuum from cooling. It did work first time, but when I left it cool down so I could build the generator mount, it imploded! :mad: It had a graphite piston running in pyrex cylinder, so it ran really smooth. Guess I'll have to find a stronge...

Does it do anything when you apply heat (i.e piston moves a little)? What heat source are you testing it with ? Maybe try a more powerful one!?

The picture's not too clear, but it looks like the cranks are set at 180 degree as the other poster said.

I think the hog engine is an alpha type engine ? Not clear but it looks like it. Those don't have displacers, they have two pistons that are hot and cold. A displacer type engine won't work if it's not airtight.

No it won't work, you need the displacer cylinder to be sealed at both ends, then it will work

Good idea you can use 268 for mph which should give 0.6 = 60rpm.

Looks good Jim, looks like you made all the parts balanced perfectly as it runs really smooth!

The easiest way is to just bend brass or copper rod say around 2 - 4mm. You can use a gas torch to soften the bends

Thats awesome! Be nice to see a video of it running. I did try making a tiny Stirling
like that out of two copper 2p (about the size of your euro) but it never ran.
