Re: My first post. Advice needed.
Hi Wellington. . I think this form of cogeneration is one of very few truly useful areas to invest Stirling development. Check out the electronic competition of Thermal Electric Generators first though. Cheap TEGs are becoming more available and may be getting to the point of making all of this muc...

Re: Counterbalancing displacers
Doesn't it add an awful lot of friction to have the two displacer rods running inside each other? Yes, that was a problem. Particularly because they are thin, soft metal (brass and copper) and tend to bend buckle and bind easily. But that was all that was available at the local hardware. It did wor...

Thanks. That didn't happen this time though. Back to the drawing board.thanh-cuibap wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 7:26 pm I will learn more about them when I have time

No, the displacers did not fall off.

IMG_20200115_113056910_resize_30.jpg Well, I got something put together finally IMG_20200115_113045571_resize_2.jpg Haven't. Been able to get it to run though. Not even with bags full of scalding hot water from the tea kettle on top and ice below. I've exhausted all the simple possibilities as far ...

Re: Counterbalancing displacers
As things progressed, I started trying to mount support brackets and such on the lid of the cookie tin, however it was still far too weak and prone to buckling and bending so I had to add more cross bracing. I ended up going with the seesaw method of counterbalancing as it seemed the displacers real...

Re: Counterbalancing displacers
I think, just my opinion: TWO DISPLACER will change the principle of stirling motor. Displacer has the effect of moving air from the hot zone to the cold zone and contrary,. Why don't you reduce the weight of displacer? There are many, many different Stirling displacer arrangements. These are regen...

Re: Counterbalancing displacers
Ok, it just came to me. A pulley system. Like an elevator with a counterbalance. It takes the weight off and lifts straight up, so won't create any friction from lifting in an arch like my initial seesaw arangement. Well, actually the rope and pulley themselves add some friction, but I think that wo...

Re: large lamina flow build
the inner tube is open on the hot end. The pointed end is just pointed for airflow purposes. the point is basically hollow. I wont be sharing the new design, I have too much time invested to just give it away. After so many here contributed. Gave away all their ideas and experience to help you. Som...

Vuilleumier two displacer engine (heat pump)
The Vuilleumier device is very similar to a Stirling engine, or Stirling cooler, except that it has two regenerative displacers. Like a Stirling it has a hot end and a cold end but it is different in that it takes in heat or absorbs heat from BOTH the hot end, as well as the cold end. So while it ru...

Counterbalancing displacers
I have a slight issue or problem to work out with the experimental TWO DISPLACER engine I'm experimenting with. I want to try and at least ensure that it will run on a cold sink (ice rather than applied heat) and have every advantage I can give it. To that end, I thought counterbalancing the displac...

Re: Tesla's "Ambient Heat Engine" Experiment
Interestingly, after I started working on this around Christmas, the design based on a cookie tin, I came across this video where someone built a Stirling using the same cookie tin. He is supplying a lot of heat from a gas stove to run the thing though. Getting a similar engine to run on ice and amb...

Re: 2 KWh LTD Stirling Engine
Assuming you can get 20% mechanical power, @ 180rpm, you are going to need to heat at least 10 grams of air up by 100 degree and cool it down again in every cycle. my 2 c I've been wondering about this for a long long time, the "cool it down again" part. Not to be argumentative. Certainly...

Re: 2 KWh LTD Stirling Engine
Hello, ... I also work on a stirling engine which operates at low temperature. I'm on my sixth prototype and it's starting to work well. Are there people who are still working on the same subject? Rafik Do you have any pictures or videos of any of your prototypes? I am always interested in any kind...
