Re: My alpha Stirling engine.

Hi Hopper, Thank you very much. I'm happy that you like my engine. So bore is ø 24mm and stroke 16mm. The lenght of connecting rod between axis is 28,5mm. But this dimension can be modified because it is one of the default of my engine. Pistons are 21mm high and the axis is only at 6 mm from the do...

Plans and Drawings for Beginners

Being a sort of noob, getting back into Stirlings after decades away, I have spent the past few weeks trawling for reliable plans for a simple first project that is guaranteed to run when all the work is done, providing it is build properly of course. Here are a few of my favourites so far: Jan Ridd...

Re: My alpha Stirling engine.

Hi Chris, are you still on the forum these days? I love your little engine and have been working on trying to design a copy of it since seeing it on on Youtube a few weeks ago. Being a v-twin motorcycle enthusiast I like the elegant simplicity of your little V engine. I would like to get a few more ...

Re: Stirling or Steam Engines for power Generation on Mars?

If you are going low-tech with limited materials as you say, a steam engine might be more practical. You can build the whole thing out of steel and iron. Plenty of old reciprocating steam engines ran generators in the old days. There is even a working sugar mill in Bundarberg, Australia, that is sti...

Re: Any plans or info on this type of V2 Alpha?

Hi, To be clear, that V15 does not produce 100+ Watts as some guys on YouTube try to tell. Read Andy Ross's comment on his YouTube account about his engines. The man knows what he' s talking about, as a lot of guys on this forum do btw. Chris Thanks. Yes I saw some discussion of that. Youtube -- al...

Re: Any plans or info on this type of V2 Alpha?

Hi, Just contact Mr Ross. Very kind man btw. He does not work with that V15 engine anymore. Instead he will send you plans of an even more powerful little engine, his B-20. Very few parts. The only problem is there are no more castings available anymore. So you will have to make your own crankcase....

Re: Any plans or info on this type of V2 Alpha?

Thanks guys. Yes a quick read of Andy's book has been very enlightening. I sent him an email to he if he has any plans available for his V15 engine, seems just like what I want to do. Found a real interesting site here http://poisson.me.dal.ca/~dp_08_04/Downloads.html by a bunch of engineering stude...

Any plans or info on this type of V2 Alpha?

Hi, I want to build a Stirling engine like the one in the video below, but the poster says plans are not available. Anyone know of any plans or info for something similar, ie a 90 degree V2? I have looked through all the links to plans on your excellent site here and can find everything but. Downloa...

Re: "Hi" We are new here!

Hi from Oz. I was a machinist for some years in my youth and still have an old 1930s Drummond lathe in my shed. Built a few model steam engines years ago and have always been fascinated by Stirling engines. Was going to build a model Ericson years ago but got sidetracked by other things. So looking ...
