How you can build an easy free piston Stirling engine?
Hi folks! I finished my series of my DIY free piston engine videos on youtube. Here I have 3 videos to build step by step a beer can free piston engine: 1. Re: 2-cylinder Gamma - project
Thanks very much!
That's awesome! I hoped it existed in smaller size too... but it's just a dream about it!
But the 12 mm is Ok!
In Hungary I found it some agriculture or heating system shop, so thanks very much again!
Best regards!

Re: 2-cylinder Gamma - project
Pretty nice engine!
I need to see run this engine! :)
Congratulation!
One question : what was that plastic peace around the bearings originally? That is a great solution for rod connection!
Thanks for your answer!
Kind regards:
Blade

Re: what cycle does this engine use?
Dear Vamoose, This blog is really interesting! I wrote to him an e-mail...we will see...I hope he will answer to me something. The videos are good, but I knew those, and I know Pall Arpad, he is my friend from Transylvania. The flame licker is not an inverse Manson, because the Manson has two power ...

Here is a nice little LTD model plan for beginners from a Hungarian builder:

Re: Build Stirling but torque not good
Dear Michael, The ceramic, or graphite ring is a good solution for the heat separation. But you should to seal it perfectly with some temperature resistant seal ring or grease. The dead volume on the ends are too much. If you can reduce it, then use only 0,5-1 mm. The curved bottom help the displace...

Re: Stirling engine for non-profit rural use.
Your welcome!:) If it is possible then use big diameter bore what you can make it possible. The simple design atmospheric engines can make usefull power with big bore. Did you read Andy Ross book from Stirling engines? Basically that is a good starter "kit" for your ideas. Kind regards! Bl...

Re: Build Stirling but torque not good
I checked your CAD drawing in Solid Works. The file format not was perfectly translated but the engine's geometry was What I need to see on it. If your engine is perfectly same as like this CAD drawing then first, the dead volume is too big in it. The power stroke is not enough. Too much the gap bet...

Re: Build Stirling but torque not good
Dear Michael! The engine is pretty nice! :) I found 4 little things for you on your engine. No heat trap ( too much heat you lose it). Not stabilised the engine (opposit moving=loss energy). Not enough cold the cold side (water cooling continously=The inlet energy should be go out there). Not separa...

Re: Stirling engine for non-profit rural use.
I shared your call with my Stirling builder FB group. My opinion is, if you have metal machine shop with some good engineer, they can make easily a high performance Stirling for you and your families from scrap materials. The cost is too low, but your goal is low too. Is an engine with highest power...

Re: NASA Stirling research
This construction of free piston engine is not a big deal if you need to build one. The highest technical problem is the gas bearing what they used for the lowest friction/long life period between the displacer's rod/piston->cylinder. The construction has a good performance from low cost material to...

Re: what cycle does this engine use?
First. Do you know and understand the Ericsson also the Manson cycle/engines? I knew the ordinary stirling has two power stroke, but this is not a Stirling engine. :) I showed on my blog these engines working method because my engine is a hybrid of these two engines. The grey piston closed the engin...

Re: what cycle does this engine use?
The first patent is a Bryton cycle, that is not important. I need the 1953 patent from Ericsson cycle engine's parameters. I can't found it. But my cycle has some different things in. My engine has a vacuum power stroke, and the inlet (also the exhaust) are not same like Ericsson. The Ericsson work ...

Re: what cycle does this engine use?
I understand, but I haven't got enough money yet for a good quality KCE model. My next big project will be a closed cycle Manson actually. I start to build it 22 of Nov. so I am active, just the KCE will be soon. I hope somebody will faster than me. Also I hope I am not the only one who thinking abo...

Re: what cycle does this engine use?
Hi guys!
I made an animated GIF from my new caloric engine. (Manson/Ericsson hybrid)

What do you think about this engine's P-V diagram?
Is anybody interested in this topic?
