Yes it is, but well compensated by pressure and ratio of compression. They are making headway with cars - I just wish I could find that article for you in the magazine.02

Re: Disappointing
You may be right Aviator, but they certainly achieved it. I am posting 4 pages of extract from An introduction to STIRLING ENGINES by James R. Senft. It would be worthwhile for you to try and get hold a copy as the book is worth its weight in gold so to speak.http://www.stirlingengineforum.com/posti...

Re: Disappointing
Hi Aviator (in answer to the car question) You still can't say they haven't built a car that was practical and had good millage to the gallon - Check out this - "An Introduction to Stirling Engines by James R. Senft" It was a model P-40 Rider type engine with compressed hydrogen at 2200psi...

Re: At Last The Completed Beam Engine Now Complete with Radiator
Hi CB The top of the displacer cylinder is immersed in cooling liquid. The small square box you see on the top is the air/diaphragm pump which pumps the water through the radiator on the bottom. The water return is placed at the bottom of the tank. I like your thinking re the air intake idea from a ...

Re: Disappointing
From what I've have seen advertised on TV - It's Japan, going to introduced this year. Also in one of the sterling LTD Papers "An Introduction to Stirling Engines by James R. Senft" It was a model P-40 Rider type engine with compressed hydrogen at 2200psi with a piston displacement of 492c...

Re: At Last The Completed Beam Engine Now Complete with Radiator
Thanh - You can't have it heeheehee it's for me and me. Ian the radiator is an oil cooler from a small motor bike. I think I will be using these in my next two models for display but may have to use them in an upright position. Time will tell. One last thing Ian I am going to try and make a replica ...

Re: displacer and power piston proportions
Damn awesome Ian. They certainly look good. I am looking at 12"alloy ones that I can sand down (improvising) . Can't fit that size in my lathe as it will only swing 8". Trev

Re: Disappointing
Well, look at this way Aviator - Why are they now making cars and generators from heated air sterling engines. Doesn't make sense!!!!

At Last The Completed Beam Engine Now Complete with Radiator
I now have it all painted and the radiator fitted onto the bottom with a small fan. It does not take much heat to get this model up and going with the total amps being .45A (450ma) at 3 volt = 1.35Watt At ambient air temp of 32 Degrees C the engine stabilized at 45 Degrees C with the radiator making...

Re: Trying to make an Andy Ross B20
Looks very good from the back and a clever idea using a hand held mixer as a generator and thanks for the info. The cooling tubes looks quite efficient. I have found on mine that I have a 15 Deg C difference from ambient and the hot input to the radiator. Seems as about 5 -10 above ambient seems pre...
