Re: Hello I am new, and I need advice for presssure vessel
Hi, you didn't say, but from your dimensions and descriptions, can I assume that this a LTD engine, perhaps running off a cup of water ? --so first question is: is it better to have center of pressure vessel of some heat insulating material or all vesel of one material (steel). My pressure vessel is...

Re: Sanity check: airtight displacer a bad idea?
Steel wire wool displacers work really well. I use them in all of my engines.

Re: Oil burners
Thanks, I will try your suggestions and report back! I forgot about the water in them, that's probably the main problem. Would a metal shield around the flame and in the oil help, as it would transfer the warmth back to the oil and preheat it. Not touching the flame, just around 0.5cm away fr...

Oil burners
Does anybody know how I can make waste vegetable oil burn cleanly in a small scale ? I'm looking for something the equivalent of 3 tea light candles, but powered by waste vege oil. I made a wick burner and ran my Stirling generator off it, it works, but the whole thing is covered in soot now, very m...

Re: Troubleshooting my V8 stirling
What are those hoses made of ? Why haven't they melted when you heated it up?

Re: Troubleshooting my V8 stirling
Try disconnecting the hose/pipe between the cylinders, whilst the engine is heated, then reconnect it, it might run then.

Re: Newbie on Stirling Engines [Need HELP plz...]
Your crank is wrong, the two arms should be 90* apart, not 180!
Does it turn smoothly ? Those parts look too big to be easily turned by such a small
engine. I suspect your power piston stoke is too long too (but I'm not sure about that part)

Mini air compressor piston ?
Has anybody used the piston out of a mini air compressor successfully in a Stirling engine ?
They are on sale for £5, I suspect they won't be any good, but maybe someone has tried them ?

Re: How to build a Tin Can Stirling Engine?
Hi, could you try disconnecting the balloon connecting rod from the cranks. Heat the engine up and turn the cranks over... Does the balloon move up and down by itself ? If so how much ? My engines usually won't run until I adjust the tension that the balloon is under and the lengths of it's connecti...

Hey PKM
you should have no problems doing that. My engines all have the displacer epoxied (low temp stuff) on the side with no problems.

Hey it's looking good! Have you considered a balloon diaphragm ? Nice and simple, easy to build.

Nothing wrong with a diaphragm piston, I used them in some of my engines.
