Thanks Aviator. A lot of people do not realise that air is a fluid pursue and when pressurised becomes a lot denser.

Re: Multiple tube Thermal Acoustic engine
Me to please Derwood - Love the concept you have done on it. That would have to be the best I have seen of late. Well done!

Re: generators
Yes Thanh - It originally had a generator on it, but with the load of the fan and the pump the engine wanted to go slow and I didn't want to use a bigger flame. Hence the fan only and it runs very well on a small flame.

Re: Trying to make an Andy Ross B20
HI Ian - I noticed the fins on your cooling tubes. Was this an afterthought due to not working with the water cooler idea. It sort of looked like the same as I had made on the diaphragm engine. Another question for you Ian on the hot piston area. Is the piston made of cast iron and is it lubricated?...

Hee Hee Hee Thanh - and I thought I was funny. I didn't realize that the light was from your genny on your model. Nice Job and I guess your going to dress it all up just for me. On another note - I have finished painting the model up and yep! you guessed it Ian, You put the gremlins onto me and the ...

Re: Epoxy piston or not?
Sorry about that Shadowjack - misinterpretation of the facts. I see what you mean. The idea works but I never got it to work for long periods due to some heat getting to the piston. He might have to water cool the piston jacket as well.

Re: Epoxy piston or not?
Nicely said Shadowjack, though I wouldn't use flour or starch as the piston will not hold together for any length of time. The adhesion would be weak at best. Lathing to a smaller size would certainly expose the graphite and as you say should do the trick. Have you tried this before with any of your...

Re: Epoxy piston or not?
Hi Sbooder - I have tried epoxy mixed with graphite powder and it worked, but not successfully for any length of time. The heat does cause a little concern to the epoxy, that however will depend on the epoxy you use. I guess you can only try it and see and you will need to have a real smooth bore wi...

Nice one Thahn - I like the way you put the fan on the generator - 2 in 1 deal. Love it and what a way to go.

Re: Sterling Diaphragm Engine
Yeah! Yeah! (heehee). This one will work (I think) as I pulled the other one to pieces many times and seemed to work better each time. Er! Anyway II have already pulled it apart - oops! Ian I just bought these bearing for mounting against wooden or steel blocks and are self aligning, but at $2.00 a ...
