Re: what is a good alternative fuel?

fullofhotair If you could plug your goats output into some kind of convoluted set-up with pipes and stuff then that might make a Stirling Engine with approximately a 1gp (goat power) of output (don’t ask me how many watts or G TU's that might be). http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii543/vamoose2/S...

Re: THERMAL GLUE/PASTE uses in stirling engines?

I recently had to attach a rear view mirror to my front windscreen. I bought a glue from my local car parts joint that was specifically designed to attach the metal lug of the mirror to the glass windscreen. It was fairly expensive but did the job (it definitely made a extremely strong bond). I'm no...

Re: THERMAL GLUE/PASTE uses in stirling engines?

Actually it was a poorly written post on my behalf Ian, it was meant as a separate statement and not as a direct response to the subject you raised. I should have put it in a seperate posting. It was a point I meant to make ages ago, but forgot to do so... http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticons/smile...

Re: THERMAL GLUE/PASTE uses in stirling engines?

Sorry Ian, I cant help with your query. Although I'm interested in the answer, and am sure that there are plenty of experienced people on the subject, that might help fill us in. But, I would like to add, in regards to thermal pastes/glues/grease's, One of the aspects of these compounds that I overl...

Re: varible phasing

Nice configuration Ante! I think many of us, have at some time, thought about the dynamics of timing and stroking variations. I've definitely scribbled down many different wacky approaches. Although thinking about it and experimenting with it are 2 different things. Also, determining if there are an...

Re: varible phasing

I wouldn't count out an elliptical gear to achieve what is being discussed. If you look at the 'gif' below you can see the 'Right' gear is spinning at a constant rotational speed (this would have the flywheel attached and also be attached to the power piston), Where as the 'Left' gear spin speed (sl...

Re: free piston air or water pump?

Yep i agree Ian,
there is a really good possibility for Stirling engines to be effective in these applications.Especially in Hybrid EV's.

fullofhotair, was looking through some of the striling engine magazine articles thread, for links that might apply to what your discussing. Air conditioning cold from any source of heat http://books.google.com.au/books?id=uRAgliO29ZwC&pg=PA60&dq=solar+stirling+engine+popular+science&hl=e...

Re: varible phasing

Hey bumpkin did you catch this thread.. http://stirlingengineforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1595 It wasn't a complete success but a pretty cool effort. I think a wood fed Stirling traction type engine is feasible idea (especially with some low gearing), as i have read in another forum about a sta...

Re: varible phasing

I was thinking there would also be other ways to vary the phasing relationship, although it would be different to changing the standard "Phase Angle" relationship of true circular rotating engine crank. -For example, using non-circular gears to change the stroke rate of a kinematic engine ...

Re: varible phasing

I was trying to think of a way to change phase as the engine is running. Would changing phase a little help when the engine is under load? Example ,have an easy starting engine at one phase ,then change phase and heat for more power and torque. If the timing is set by attachments on a flywheel I th...
