Re: Building a two-cylinder stirling,now at 1040RPM
Hi Lars! Sorry i didn't reply earlier. Just busy with school and my finals and other stuff. Your engine runs very nice! I find it unbelievable how fast it runs, and so smooth! I'd like to see more video-coverage of your engine, how you built it up, some photo's etcetera, maybe it's an idea to make s...

Re: 2-cylinder Gamma - project
hi,
about LPG, i can understand that, but my burners burn a butane/propane mix, and last winter it wasn't what you would call very cold, most times it was about 5 degrees C.
I think heat escaping to the surrounding area is the biggest problem.

Finally made a video about how we built our Engine Check it out! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've had no time to do further improvements on the engine, however i did a few tests. The engine runs much better with the warme...

Pop-can engine build
Hi, justed wanted to share a little project i just started. Aim is to build this in the spare free time during my current test-week. Between studying hours, and other stuff i can work on it. Aim is to build a smooth running engine, for endurance testing. My first popcan engine ran for 70 hours, but ...

Yes, i did understand what you meant with the 'flexible joint' just curious how are you doing that, because i'm also making a popcan engine. Actually i also don't know the right word for it :P
What do you have as a seal for the displacer rod?

I see i made a mistake, the surface area is actually "pi" * r^2

Re: house heating system with stirling engine
Hi, very nice build! a stirling-engine put to do useful work, you don't see it that much. If I understand right, you have the woodfire, that heats the water for the radiators, and that water is circulated by the stirling-engine pump. That is very useful, you can then warm your whole house with that ...

Re: High powered Stirling going into production
I think the computer is more an advantage than a disadvantage. Nowadays everything is computer-controlled, and with that more is possible. You can do everything mechanically, but that can also fail. You're right, mechanical things can be fixed with duct-tape and WD-40, electronic problems are not so...

Re: Help Needed Building a Gamma Type Engine to Run a Model
Ian, short question: what if you make the displacer say 4 times the diameter? Will the efficiency decrease, or will it be even better because of better separation of the cold and hot side? however, the air has to travel a longer way, and maybe more wear from the displacer?

Re: Displacer gap too big?,now with 2 cylinder building
hi,
Nice progress! It's really nice!
two questions:
- the upside of your cylinder, is that simply a bottom of a can pressed down into another can? just a thight fit, no glue?
- like to see how you do the flexible joint. i'm searching for a way to do it by my own popcan engine.
Regards,
Krijn

Re: Help Needed Building a Gamma Type Engine to Run a Model
whow! congratulations on your engine! It looks really nice and clean, nice finishing! How have you built it, from a plan, of figured out the dimensions from the internet? I can't answer your questions, but i'm really curious about the answers. Just a few questions i wondered about myself. For exampl...

Re: Displacer gap too big?
Hi, About the rods: what you say about the movement to the sides: longer rods give a lower 'sideways angle'. But longer rods give also more weight, i think the best point is somewhere in between. Too short causes to much friction, but to long isn't also good i think. I don't know for sure, the only ...

Re: Displacer gap too big?
Hi, Your engines are getting better and better everytime! I see you're learning, and building, very fast! I've just started building a new popcan Stirling Engine, let's see what speed i can get. I've built one 2 years ago, but with fishing line etc. now it's getting connecting rods instead of fishin...

Re: How you can build an easy free piston Stirling engine?
Hi,
I already saw your Free-piston tutorials, they're very nice and clear! When i have time, i'm definitely going to build one, but there are more things on the list to do, so probably it'll be some time before the build starts.
Thank you for sharing such awesome video's!
