My GAMMA one uses the 1.5 : 1 ratio, and the Ringbom one is about 2 : 1, but it sorts out it's own ratio depending on the load.

Re: ITS GENIOUS™ - 10 kW portable CHP stirling
By the look of their Facebook site they seem to still be in business, but there is nothing much about sales of their machines.

Re: Dual stirling generators electrically heated
Electric al generation by a Stirling Engine of (say) 1Kw might at most develop .75 Kw to .8 Kw, a heating element might have a similar efficiency, producing say .5 Kw of heat, and the engine might take up 50% of that, it ain't gonner work mate. But an electric powered Stirling Engine is a good demon...

We have not heard from Inestol since May 21st 2015, I wonder how many they have sold since then? Ian S C

Re: Gamma type cylinder and displacer
When I design my motors, I like to make the power piston stroke the same or shorter than the diameter of the piston, and calculate the swept volume, then I select the tube to make the displacer, and if I can make it a little larger in diameter, and with luck it is near enough that if the same stroke...

Re: Small Stirling Engine
The little Bohm HB7-A02 often needs the power cylinder, and piston cleaned, I use a bit of paper kitchen towel, it has a stainless piston in an aluminium bore, not a mix that I would use. My own small motor has a 3/8" bore by 1/2" stroke, both the piston and cylinder are cast iron. The fly...

To put a photo up click on the box to the left of the Submit box, click on insert image, then attachments. You may need to reduce the photo size, I use 640 x 480, and just bring it straight from your computer. The only motor I'v bought is this one, I build my own. Ian S C [img] DSC01049%20(640x480)....

Re: Gamma type cylinder and displacer
Yes Bumkin is correct. About the bronze, I can't help much there, some bronzes are harder than others, and I would go for the harder of the two. You should aim for as polished as possible for the bore of the power cylinder. It's usually best to have the displacer cylinder the same or larger than the...

Re: Alpha Stirling Design - What dou you thing?
I didn't know and could find no information about Heylandt Crowns, so I made mine to similar dimentions to the displacer in a GAMMA, or BETA motor, so it's length is 3 x the diameter. The two cylinders are joined by a hole drilled through from the r/h side of the cylinder head (the bit that goes rig...

Re: Alpha Stirling Design - What dou you thing?
There is no difficulty making the Ross Yoke. I have changed that motor from having a link from the bottom centre to the (in this case) right hand side, to having a pin on the bottom centre of the triangle running in a vertical slot. It also has been changed from water to air cooling. There is no fan...

Re: Alpha Stirling Design - What dou you thing?
An interesting looking motor, how are you going to heat it?
Here is my one, it has a Ross Yoke. 35 mm bore, and 22 mm stroke, air cooled, and gas / LPG heated. That's a 6" / 150 mm rule standing on the right hand side, it caught the sunlight a bit.

Re: Tesla's "Ambient Heat Engine" Experiment
If you are going to get serious about building hot air motors (or any motor, or model) you need at least the use of a lathe, unless you are only going to build tin can motors. The most important thing is imagination.

Re: Tesla's "Ambient Heat Engine" Experiment
Tom, that one cost me the price of the 12 nylon screws used to hold the top and bottom plates together. The plates were made from 2 frying pans found in a rubbish skip, the top one is 5 mm thick, and the bottom one 3 mm. The flywheel was made from the pan used for the top plate, the spokes are bits ...

Re: Tesla's "Ambient Heat Engine" Experiment
The one way to see if it actually works is to build it, and try it out.
