Re: Power piston diameter

Yes I think your right in saying that, Force = pressure x area (plus also, time and mass should be in there somewhere too) But I liked this comment from Geoff V …............ Pressurisation, the power output is proportional to the rate at which an engine processes the working gas, large turbo jets a...

Re: Website Links Area

check this link... (for theoretical max carnot/caloric engine cycle efficiency)
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hb ... arnot.html
this is before anything has even turned and before a multitude of other losses/inefficiencies have been considered.

Re: Stirling Engines with Supercritical Fluids?

Blade Interesting topic. I'm not familiar with supercritical fluids either but hope this is of some help. I'm guessing if that once your above and beyond the critical pressure and critical temperature then the fluid is at supercritical state. Also if the critical pressure increases/decreases the the...

Re: Funny Stirling Engines!!

Who's the special bit That's holds the heat machine to all the links? 'Shaft', ya, damn right! Who's the cam that would twist his neck For his brother flange? 'Shaft', can you spin it? Who's the rod that won't cop out When there's pressure all about? 'Shaft', right on! They say this cat Shaft is a b...

Re: MPPT for Stirling Engines

Thanks Ian its probably the most practical and available method, Although, the testing process is what I’m indicating could be avoided. As I mentioned the engine would have to be driving a generator that is running through the mppt reg (this would then be charging a battery). The mppt uses Pulse Wid...

MPPT for Stirling Engines

Are there any electronics guys (or anyone) out there that can help on this one?? What I’m thinking of is the correct design of a 'Maximum Power Point Tracker' (MPPT), for trying to find the sweet spot in any Stirling engine that is driving a generator. (The ideal output RPM). With the right MPPT reg...

Re: Blueprints

Again, nice info Ian. Have just spent some time looking at, and searching through your suggested sites for ColonelKorn I have come across them before, but spent much more time looking through them this time. The information seems much more credible and worthwhile, when suggested bye an experienced e...

Re: Funny Stirling Engines!!

Some researchers at NASA are comparing Stirling Engine 'SE' and Internal Combustion Engine 'ICE' specifications. The Stirling researcher “accidentally” knocks the internal combustion engine off the bench, onto the Internal Combustion Engine researches foot. He hops around madly and yells 'SE' what h...

Re: Radial Stirling

Oops, Actually now I read your post properly I realise you probably meant using a Gamma setup. This Could work, as you have described, in my limited opinion. (sorry sometimes I don’t absorb things strait away, I could still be wrong about what your describing. If we’re not on the same page then plea...

Re: Radial Stirling

Theropod2, I think its an inspired concept (at the least, its got my attention). Not considering the possible problems/negatives for a moment, what I like about it is the flow of heat from a focused point, radially in an outward direction, to the colder surroundings (air, world, universe (entropy))....

Re: Funny Stirling Engines!!

It was, but i mixed them together (for s#!ts and giggles, (shiggles)), making a comparison to 'stirling engine surgery'. Regarding the book side of things, i have just this weekend bought (through ebay) Modelling Stirling and Hot Air Engines (James Rizzo) and Build a Two Cylinder Stirling Cycle Engi...
