http://youtu.be/UCLEc6FP_uM
I thought Id seen some crazy looking stirlings before ,but this has one has to take the prize. It looks like an animated scrap wood pile. Poor guy had to disable the comments, people were giving him such a bad time.

Re: vawt stirling heater

http://youtu.be/8MQaT9EbMDQ http://youtu.be/hnXLNO7DkdY Iam guessing not everyone realizes that if you mechanically turn a stirling engine instead of heating it ,it becomes a heat pump . You can harvest heat from it . The video shows this. The other video is a vertical wind turbine. You can use the ...

Re: Water Cooling Designs

Hawke,
That was really a nice engine you posted. Well thought out. Like something Ian SC might make. Doesn't the peltier effect work in reverse? If you have hot and cold it produces electricity.

Re: Water Cooling Designs

http://youtu.be/LU4eynU6R-8 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_pipe Hawke, Your teaser didnt work for you but here is something that might. It is called a heat pipe. It conducts heat 1000 times better than copper. It is almost a perfect insulator except at the condenser end. You could have one end in...

vawt stirling heater

Use a vertical wind turbine to run a stirling as a heat pump. Draw off the heat to heat a room . Could be a window unit if the wind lines up.

Re: Water Cooling Designs

I had an idea of using the power piston diaphragm to also serve as a diaphragm water pump. The bottom is the power piston the top the water pump. Someone here turned me on to an even simpler solution. It was a U-tube of a guy tapping into the connection between the power piston and the displacer cyl...

Re: popcan stirling can light up CFL.

My god that is one big tesla coil. I bet he doesnt have any stray cats running around. I wouldnt want be his neighbor. You go out one day to clean your gutters on your aluminum ladder and he turns that beast on? I see a lot of problems with the hyperloop. The concord is no longer with us. It would b...

Re: popcan stirling can light up CFL.

http://youtu.be/5kL8ys8m0-4 Hawke, I love the magic, or being able to do what seems impossible. The U-tube video is of a guy using an earth battery to light up a 48 inch fluorescent tube. An earth battery puts out like one watt. He uses a fuji curcuit or joule thief and capacitor. What about a stirl...

Re: Water Cooling Designs

Hawke, Right, if you can feel heat through the sides of the burner ,thats lost heat . Most of the time nobody gives it that much concern, because they are over heating and dont mind waste. If you use one tea candle you need everything you can get. I like the idea of seeing just what one tea candle c...

Re: Heat Exchanger Design

How about using thin sheets of metal stacked ,with a tiny gap between each one. You can get copper foil ,even gold foil. I dont know how you would keep them seperated. Maybe even a composite of different metals.

Re: popcan stirling can light up CFL.

Ian SC That is a real shame we lost that. That would have been a great video to see. The grampa of tin can stirling engines. Can you remember anything else about the engine. I though about using a 50 gal. barrel for the main cylinder body, but was told the thin metal couldnt take the pressure if sca...

Re: Water Cooling Designs

Hawke, Iam really impressesd with what you have so far. Remember just because your limiting yourself to just one tea candle , that doesnt mean you cant improve and speed up its burn. The more air circulation it gets ,the faster it will burn. Insulated material instead of conducting metal for the bur...

Re: Water Cooling Designs

Hawke, Ive been trying to do a little more research on it. You might need the tank for the thermosyphon. It seems a tall narrow holding tank is better than a short fat one. You want bigger tubing instead of narrow tubing. Try to avoid real sharp bends .I think youll just have to do some experimentin...
