Re: cookie can and bike parts, drill only

Nice! It's running, although not very fast.
Keep on building!

Re: High powered Stirling going into production

Nice information!
It's going on now, it's april, so may/june isn't that far away.
I'd really like to see the final product, so if you have more information: keep us updated!

Krijn

Re: Steel wool displacer piston lenght, now video of start

Hi, I still needed to answer here, so i wrote a little bit on paper, to hopefully make it a bit clearer. http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/q748/trianglestirling/Stirling/scan0001_zps98268783.jpg No need for saying sorry, it's nice to help people out. I'm from the Netherlands, so English is also no...

Re: alpha type stirling engine question

It runs nice! I'm going to look out for some glass syringes, easy engine to build, and very well running!

Re: Acquired a Stirling Engine

Nice engine! Very nice that you're trying to sell it to someone enthousiastic, however, i guess you're from the US of A? For me it will be too much for the shipping alone. Also i have no gun, that's not allowed here in the Netherlands :P Maybe you can put it on Ebay? You haven't had it running yet? ...

Re: Solar Powered LTD Twin Stirling Engine Generator (Gamma)

Hi simonchan, 1 mm stainless is a bit thick, if you look up our engine '2-Cylinder Gamma Stirling - Project' somewhere down on the index page, our cylinders are .45 mm thick. However, you're going to use aluminium i think. The pvc, what is the diameter of it, on the inside? I'm not so familiar with ...

Re: 2-cylinder Gamma - project

Thank you Ian for your answer! I knew aluminium was not the best material for this, but it was the only thing available then.
I'm going to look for a brass piece there.

I assume there is no problem to use a stainless steel rod through a brass gland?

Re: 2-cylinder Gamma - project

@larsinist: Yeah, boat or bicycle would be really cool, but i don't think we have enough power for that (at least not yet). First thing i'm going to do is improve the cooling. Engine can now run for a long time at 250 rpm, with a steady temperature of 70 degrees C at the upper half of the cylinder. ...

Re: HELP! STIRLING ENGINE PROJECT

Ok, now i understand, so you're only after the paperwork now. I'm afraid i have to disappoint you then. I don't know of an engine where all that is published. You could search for Andy Ross' book "Making Stirling Engines' It's free available, but there are no CAD drawings there. Our engine is d...

Re: Alpha type 3D printed Stirling

Hi, Your engine looks really nice! Nice way of using a 3D-printer to create a Stirling Engine! I also watched a few of your other video's, your engines look really nice. Maybe it's time to look out if i can find a few glass syringes to make something like this, but i don't have a 3D-printer, so i ha...

Re: 2-cylinder Gamma - project

Engine has a few running hours on it so far. Runs really great, at about 350 rpm it runs at it's best, with a constant speed. I have plans for making another crankshaft. I purchased a drill press and a tap/cutting set. So i can make threads in all the parts of the crankshaft, so i get a stronger, st...

Re: Steel wool displacer piston lenght, now video of start

what i think you should look at are the dimensions. You say you want to make your displacer shorter, but that just creates more 'dead air volume', see a few posts above. What is your crank throw now? Say, the displacers moves 2 cm up and down, and your cilinder is 8,5. Then you can make your displac...

Re: alpha type stirling engine question

Yeah, we want to see more details it, a video or a few detailed pictures, as vamoose says 'pretty please...' I think the syringes are good for this. They must seal perfectly, otherwise the fluid that it is used with can escape. Also i think they will go smooth. Hope to see more details, if the const...

Re: Steel wool displacer piston lenght, now video of start

Hi,

Your engine looks really nice! It is already running fast!

You could try and make a alcohol-burner. Just search on youtube for it, it's mostly called a penny-stove. That should do for your engine.

Keep building, and keep posting it here!

Krijn
