Compilation of Stirling/Hot Air engine Videos

Postby vamoose » Sat Oct 05, 2013 10:57 pm

Ok..
I though it might be worth starting a thread for Compiling Interesting Stirling/Hot Air engine videos, in one place on the forum.
I've lifted some, but there are many more to be added and as people come across or remember interesting videos, i hope they will post them here.
'YES' I'm talking to You...Image

Sunpulse, 'Big'-Stirling engine.. Beta configuration that uses a rolling sock for the power piston seal. It's claimed to be capable of producing up to 2kW continuous output,
Which is extremely impressive for a non pressurized LTD Engine.

General Motors Alternative Engine Video
An old GM video with lots of very interesting alternative, car and engine, research demonstration vehicles.
I'd recommend watching the whole thing, its really fascinating...
But if you want to skip to the Stirling stuff it starts at about 7.15 (total video playtime 16min)
(they mention and partially show the elusive 'Calvair')

Robert Stirling and the Stirling Motor (video)
This is an interesting video with some good, general information about Robert Stirling and his invention.
It would be a good introduction to these engines for students and newbies, I would think.

(Running Time: 14.30)

Video from a Swedish television segment about Stirling technology. It shows the Philips Stirling Bus and Boat, a Stirling powered car and also footage inside the Kockums Stirling engine submarine, plus solar Stirling stuff.

Kockums Gotland Class, Stirling Powered Submarines

4 videos that give a full breakdown of the Kockums submarine, with some very tantalising footage of the Stirling engines and components in a partly assembled state.
BUT,Unfortunately, its in 'Swedish' not English.

Actual Stirling engine footage starts at about 5:30, and more towards the end of the first video.
The rest of the videos are based around the submarine disassembly and installation of the Stirling module, and its other operational aspects.
