I made a small stirling engine, but will it work, with video

Post by larsinist »

Hi all

I made a small stirling engine on my lathe, but there are not so much power in the diagram, should the regenerator be longer, or mabee my displacer is to heavy..it has a 23mm diameter bore, and it is 74mm long, and the piston is about 46mm long.and about 22mm in diameter.what you think, shall i build the rest of the engine, or should i start over again???

Got it Lars, the fist video I think you could get a beam engine or similar to work from that. The 2nd one I think it nail or what ever you have attached to the piston is putting too much side load on , and jambing the piston, preventing it from moving, it may work vertically with no side load. you might need a bigger flywheel, probably make one larger in diameter, doesn't need to be much heavier.

Lars, one of the reasons I don't use brass is it's cost here, I think the metal merchants think that it is gold.
