Major Stirling Project by inventor who did Segway

Apparently the Sunvention large stirling generator is not available, even though a prototype worked very well. Nothing on the site works: http://www.bsrsolar.com/

I joined this forum hoping to see several people building large stirling engines. I don't see anything like that but may have missed it. I would love to discuss it.

I have machine shop capability and a very hot piece of land in south Texas. I want to build about half a mile from the nearest road which has a power line, and the cost is totally out of the question for grid power. I have already put in solar panels and batteries, backed up by a generator, and want to do stirling.

I think Sunvention sells the entire system. If you want a large low temperature stirling engine, you can build it youself. It wouln't be terribly difficult. Like you said, you already have the machine tools available to you.

The sunvention email link gives instant errors. I found a youtube of it operating, but the organization seems to be gone.

Check this youtube of the sunvention operating https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMMELH7CSNE

I would love to see plans for this device.

I seen that video long time ago. It's just a very large low temperature engine. The challenge is the displacer.

There is another thread on this engine within the last few months.

Some techniques on this page are very useful when verifying your own stirling engine design.

I worked out some number. Even if you can get the fluid temperature to 100c on the hot side and 20c on the cold side, with a 1.5cm piston (diameter) and a stroke of 1cm, the engine has to get to at least 12000 rpm to generator 5w. Lucky if you see 1/20 of that.

When you disconnect the power piston rod, and move the displacer, while the heat is applied, the diaphragm should move.
