Converting RC Disel engine to Sterling power cool piston

Post by Mr Lee Chapman »

Hello
Just wondering if anyone has re worked an old Diesel remote control plane engine to make a cool power side piston of a stilring engine
by lengthening the piston?

Any information would be helpful
thanks

Lee, you should have no trouble using that cylinder, you may need to lap/polish the piston a little, it should just slide through the cylinder under its own weight, and stop when the end of the cylinder is blocked off. I presume you will take the counter piston out, and feed in via the compression screw hole. There may be wear in the bottom part of the cylinder compared to the top where the counter piston was.
