Ian.

I e-mailed PMR about the likeness - they advised that 40 years ago they bought up a company called Solar Engines in Phoenix and this was one of their models so it seems the name name is company based rather than heat source based.

I suspect the full story is model designed and produced by Davies Charlton with the enclosed burner in the 50's.

Acquired by Solar Engines when DC were sold, who did away with the enclosed burner in favour of the open burner.

Acquired by PMR when Solar Engines were sold who do not appeared to have changed the design.
