Hawke, I love the magic, or being able to do what seems impossible. The U-tube video is of a guy using an earth battery to light up a 48 inch fluorescent tube. An earth battery puts out like one watt. He uses a fuji curcuit or joule thief and capacitor. What about a stirling engine running on one tea candle lighting up a 48 inch tube. That would seem shear magic. There isnt much resistance on a van de graf, you could use it as your stirling engine flywheel.
Oh yea! Love that video. Im not as good with electronics as you might think me being an electrician. I'm more of a construction and hook-up kinda guy with a skilled welders hand. I just do what the drawings say to do. I do understand theory pretty well however. I have to say Ive never seen a earth battery before. I wonder how deep those rods are. Im also intrigued my magnets, magnetism, and engines which can be made from these. Air bearings, and electrical circuits, and magnets could make some magic. How about a small fast train model or roller coaster? And have you seen the new theory I guy has to make a human passenger tube kinda like the Bank has to send the transactions in at the drive-thru? 700 miles per hour or something! Push-pull air compression I think.. Lets see wheres a link...

My god that is one big tesla coil. I bet he doesnt have any stray cats running around. I wouldnt want be his neighbor. You go out one day to clean your gutters on your aluminum ladder and he turns that beast on? I see a lot of problems with the hyperloop. The concord is no longer with us. It would be one boring ride, no windows. If for any reason it broke down ,a good chance you would suffocate. Any seismic activity at those speeds, and this thing is going to travel the san andreas fault line from L.A. to S.F.

Tesla Coil: YEa, and wonder how far you'ld have to be away to watch TV, listen to the radio, talk on the phone, Cd or HAM set? He's shutting down a lot of "who knows what" in the area. I just wanta lil bigger VanDeGraff in the living room is all.

Hawke, This guy labersaber ,does some fantastic stuff with just a little electricity. The bellringer looks like an easy build. I just imagined one of those fan type stirling engines setting on a wood stove and turning an alternator. The alternator puts a trickle charge on a lead acid car battery. You then use the bellringer circuit for light etc. Could be a good set up for a cabin .Oh, also the cold end of the stirling would be cooled by an exterior radiator bringing cold water in via a copper pipe.
