I often browse through various websites, YouTube videos, forums, and come across examples of engines (mostly Stirling or other types of heat engines) that are really amazing, (to me anyway). I'd like to share, but, where to post a link or video? I don't necessarily want to create an entirely new discussion forum for each one, so I'm starting this thread as a kind of catchall to share videos and links to engines that are really astonishing, outstanding, unusual or significant in some way.

Everyone should feel free to do the same and post what they might consider "award winning" engines.

According to a statement made by the builder in the comments section of this YouTube video, this engine continued running and powering the LED's for nearly ten minutes (9.5) after the heat source was removed.

Amazing what can be done with scrap.

I came across this engine on eBay. It was also listed on Etsy. I thought it looked like some old antique, or perhaps a reproduction. Anyway, I thought it was possibly one of the most beautiful and well made Stirling engines I'd ever seen. I had never seen one like it before.

As it turns out, I found an image on the American Stirling website, in the image gallery, without comment or explaination, then from there I traced it back on the Wayback Internet Archive to discover that it was a Limited edition that originally sold for nearly $2000. I paid less than a tenth of that, I'm almost ashamed to say, but that is all the seller was asking.

A real work of art. Only 15 of these were ever produced with the magnetic displacer mechanism.

The only real issue is that the foam displacer, which is actuated magnetically, has sagged with age.

These engines, according to the descriptions on the websites were supposed to be labeled with a serial number, but this engine does not appear to have a serial number

There was one original working prototype model that was finally sold after the series was discontinued. All I can figure is, possibly this is that un-numbered prototype?

Anyway I am very happy and proud to have aquired this beautiful engine. A real work of art and craftsmanship.

It is quite heavy. Machined from solid brass.

I just think this is an easy way of getting a cheap and low friction bearings for a homebuild.
