Gamma Stirling engine bore-stroke relation with performance

Post by Rush_36 »

Hello,
I'm doing research on the Gamma type Stirling engine design parameters that affect the brake power of an engine. As, I was simulating my model, I got to understand that with increase in either bore or stroke the brake power can be increased. However, when applying values in combination for bore and stroke for both displacer as well as power cylinder, I observed that in order to get close to the ideal P-V diagram, the bore diameter can be set to as high as possible while keeping the stroke length as low as possible. If anyone can explain this phenomena theoretically and logically it would be really helpful. Thank you.
